On this lecture
we will be exploring the following topics:
Common Grounds
We will first get up to speed, review some foundational topics and set up our gear the way it was meant to be used.
Exposure
After a quick exposure triangle refresher, we will start to explore more advanced topics. We will learn how to read histograms and why it is a much better tool compared to an integrated light meter, explore advanced exposure approaches that give us the highest possible quality and progress from exposure triangle to exposure square by adding an artificial light source.
Added / Artificial Light
We will dive into the ins and outs of artificial lighting. We will learn about different types and their uses, how to work with lighting gear and how to modify and shape the light.
Photography Practice
Through fun and educational challenges, we practice our settings, change exposures to create different moods and touch on studio photography.
What you need
to attend this in-person photography class:
Classroom Topics
It is not strictly necessary, but I do recommend you prepare for this lecture by working through Module I topics in the Photography 201 classroom.
Camera
We will be working with cameras, so you need one for this lecture. Phone will not be enough. The Camera can be a DSLR or mirrorless, but it is recommended for it to have a hot shoe. If you don't have it, you can also rent it for the duration of the lecture from the instructor. Just let him us know beforehand.
Light Source
We will be working with lights so it is recommended to have at least one of the following: flash, strobe or a constant light. It is also recommended to have a remote trigger for your light source. If you are missing something you can also rent it for the duration of the lecture from the instructor. Just let us know beforehand.
Misc.
Not mandatory, but if you do have it, bring with you a tripod, light mounts, ND filters, clamps, gels, etc. All your light/photography gear you would like to learn how to use.
