DEVELOP YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY EYE
Photography class 201
is an
intermediate-level
photography class and is designed for photography enthusiasts who wish to upgrade their knowledge. Photographers who are already familiar with their cameras and are almost subconsciously placing motives "into the thirds".
The program for intermediate photography class will show you that putting the subject on the sides is not the only and definitely not the best way to compose a likeable and balanced photograph. We will upgrade basic compositions and start to combine them until we peek behind the final curtain of visual design - gestalt principles and dynamic symmetry.
But the main focus is on light and its properties important for photography (photo = light and graphy = writing). Balanced composition and light make all the difference. It changes an OK into a WoW photograph and an opportunistic snapper into an artistic photographer.
Curriculum
Understanding light is not everything in Photography. Not understanding it, IS!
In this enlightening and comprehensive photography course, we will do a deep dive into all three essentials of modern photography.
Theory
With photography theory comes understanding. You won't just repeat it, you will understand the when, how and why of photography.
Practice
Photography is capturing the moment. We will practice until knowledge becomes second nature and you won't miss crucial moments.
Editing
Analogue dark rooms became digital post-processing and it's easier and more fun than ever. We will learn how to bring your creative vision to life.
Module I
On the first day of photography class, we first find the common ground and then quickly dive into the ins and outs of adding light to our photographs. Flash, strobe, constant lights and reflectors, no option remains unexplored.
Module II
It's already a field practice time. We will dedicate it to controlling the ambient light and exploring different kinds of optical filters, very fast and very long exposures and creative solutions when circumstances stand in our way.
Module III
Again, we meet in the field and test a synergy of what we learned so far and combine ambient with added light. We also apply advanced gestalt composition and with volunteers or even models create something magical.
Module IV
Back in the studio and ready to bring our vision to life with post-production. We develop RAWs and bring them into industry standard (Photoshop) where we learn quick, easy and fun techniques for creative and stunning photography.
