Photography 201 Course

Program for intermediate photography class will show you that putting the subject on sides is not the only and definitely not the best way to compose a likeable and balanced photograph.

First, we find a common photography knowledge ground and lay down a good photography foundation.

We start with a quick overview of photography fundamentals - how to work with the camera and exposure triangle. All necessary groundwork upon which we can build an intermediate photography class.

We then upgrade our knowledge with advanced focusing techniques, and in-camera effects and finish strong with properties of natural light important for photographers.

What you need/is recommended to attend Module I of the Photography 201 course:

Photography Device
Exchange lens system recommended (DSLR or mirrorless).
Photography Basics
You should already be familiar with basic photography concepts.
Computer + Mic or Mobile Phone
Only if you choose to attend this lecture remotely. Otherwise, it is optional.
Photography 201 Course (optional)
You can attend just this module, but I recommend you to take the full course.

Photography Topics We Cover In First Course Module:

Work With Camera Gear

We will dive deep into the types of camera lenses and how to operate them. We will also look into different modes/programs for our cameras and how to take care of our equipment.

Exposure Triangle Overview

We will do a quick overview of exposure time, ISO and aperture. How to combine them and what are their effects on the final photograph.

Advanced Focusing

I make my case for my favourite approach to focusing - back button focus. We also familiarise ourselves with hyperfocal and distance relations, manual focusing and creative effects we can achieve with focus.

Natural light

In the first module of photography course 201, we familiarise ourselves with the properties of natural light important to photographers. We compare temperature and tint and work with intensity, directions and fall-off.

Practice makes perfect

Practical exercises are an important part of each module in photography course 201. All theoretical concepts we immediately put into practice for each module.

In-person lecture

Each module of photography course 201 has individual time with a lecturer included. You can choose either in-person or live internet meetings.
